Day 7 - Things are Getting a Bit Crazy

First things first. Germany beat Argentina 4-2 in penalty kicks after the German goalie made two really nice saves. We got a bunch of pictures of Germans going crazy. We also got to witness some good ole fashion football hooligans in action. A couple of guys started some shit behind us and people were getting pushed around. Some guy had a busted lip and was bleeding all over the place. I was about to step in and crack some Deutsch skulls but Ted grabbed my arm and said, "I am scared, hold me." Obviously I knocked him upside the head and he snapped out of it. Luckily three very large Germans, all wearing light pink polo shirts and covered from head to toe in tattoos, stepped in and broke things up. Those guys were lucky I didn't get involved.

Flashback to last night:
When we last left our heros (aka, Les and Ted), we were on our way to a beer hall. You'll be happy to hear that we made it and proceeded to eat and drink ourselves silly at Georgbaeu Brauhaus.

Les's menu:
Geschmorte Schweinhaxe (braised pork leg)
a pitcher of the house brew (Dunkel)

Ted had some Deftiger Rindergoulasch (beef stew) and a pitcher of the house brew, also Dunkel (frekin' copy cat).

It was all very very good, best meal of the trip and personally my favorite beer so far.

Dream land...stupid people getting in at 5:30 and bein' all loud and shit. They'll get their comeuppance tomorrow morning when we are getting up at 5.

Lazy morning today since the game was our only real plan. Left the hostel around 11 and proceeded to Brandenburg Gate. Hung out around there and had some delicious pastries. Well, Ted had some flaky pastries, I on the other hand ate the souls of the small children walking by. I win. Satiated, we walked to Victory Tower in the Tiergarten. Long walk. Good thing I had filled up on souls. Hopped the bus back to Brandenburg Gate and had "some" beer and bratwursts.

T: Erdinger Weissbier x3
L: Erdinger Weissbier x1
Hösl Weissbier Resi x2

Finished our brews and feelin' ready to go cheer on Deutschland we walked over to the big screen viewing area. Apparently it filled up 3 hours before the game, so us arriving two hours before were well behind the times. We ended up walking all the way back to Victory Tower and watching the game on a big screen down there. We had some good seats and were surronded by a bunch of crazy Deutschlanders.

Argentina scored (sad Deutschlanders)
Germany scored (happy Deutschalnders)
Penalty kicks (salkgjsaödlitöuoweitzh öwoerahtöowaeih töwoai8hg öog Deutschlanders)

That about sums up the game. Craziness. As we were walking back, the Poletzi were out in full force. Riot squad gear donned and everything. And half of the riot squad police were females. Attractive females. Seriously, I think that some of the best looking women in Germany must be Berlin cops. I had a great idea that invovled Ted starting some shit with one of the poletzi and then getting knocked out followed up by some CPR by one of the hot cops. He mumbled something about it being a good idea except that Whitney would kill him. I said we could work around that. Still trying to work around it. Anyways, Ted is tired and looking rather like a sissy. Head down on the table and stuff. Guess we'll get his butt back to the hostel and get ready for a rockin' time in Prague. I hope Prague is ready to get F'd in the A.

Les

Quote(s) of the Day:
Ted (bobbing in and out of the crowd): Follow me Les, I am a walking shortest path algorithm!

(During a deep discussion on religion, politics and life helped along by nearly two liters of beer a piece)
Ted: Instead of thinking for themseleves, and potentially hurting themseleves in the process, they blindly follow what someone else says.
...
Too bad I wasn't there first.

Day 6 - Life (860712 points), Les (-12 points), Ted (3 points)

To recap our first day in berlin. We saw the following sites
- Reichstag
- Brandenburg Gate
- Holocaust Memorial
- Some cool university with a bunch of bears painted for different countries
- U.S Embassy/Fortress (ironically the Romania embassy right across the street did not require the 30 armed german guards and road blocks -- go figure)
- German History Musuem (from the outside...the more interesting perspective in our opinion)
- Bunch of Churches
- A cool e=mc^2 sign
- Egyptian Musuem
- Berliner Dome
- Pergamon Musuem
- Rathaus
- Checkpoint Charlie
- Stretch of the Berlin Wall
- Topograhy of Terror

Now to the good stuff.
Sausages!!! Beer!!!
Les was a champion and had 3 (2 bratwursts and 1 currywurst -- without the sauce...because he's a nancy)
I failed with just 2 (1 bratwurst and 1 currywurst -- with sauce -- booyah for me)
As for the Beer, Les was the champion again with a score of 5 to 4. But I would like to point out that one of his was a fruity red beer, which I personally think should be minus 8 points...but the international beer counting commision seems to disagree. Bastards. In Les's defense, he is a sissy (oh yeah, and he had no idea what he was ordering).

Les
- Prater Schwarzbier
- Hefeweissbier (Weihenstephaner) x 3
- Berliner Weisse (Red) - Nancy beer
Ted
- Prater Schwarzbier
- Prater Pils
- Kristallweissbier (Weihenstephaner) x 2

Then we had an amusing u-bahn ride home where we chatted with a girl interning from the states. Of course, we quickly disregarded all of her suggestions because she wasn't aware that we were too awesome to need them.

This morning we woke up around 9. It was another lovely day in berlin. We wandered around looking for breakfast but didn't really find anything that tickled our fancy. So, we headed to the Jewish musuem here. I was bored out of my damn mind...but it was good information and the building was really cool. Les appreciated the older historical stuff, but it was lost on me and we had to the 'Larry' the hell out of that place.

We then went to go get some german jerseys for tomorrows game, which is where Les began his failure at life. So we were trying shirts on, and two girls came up and beat the living hell out of Les and stole his sunglasses. Did I mention that they were 12 years old and had no arms or legs? Yeah, they bit him in the shins and stole his stuff. Actually, he just took them off to try them on and we went to buy the stuff, and they were gone upon our return.

Sucks.

Then we headed to some cool palace place (Charlottenburg Palace) to take some pictures. It was nice and all. Then we headed back and Les grabbed some pictures of a bombed out church. We returned to inquire about the sunglasses again, but no dice.

Now we are gonna head to a beer hall and enjoy the evening as best we can.

Peace,
Ted

Quote(s) of the Day:
L: Man, she runs weird.
T: Yeah, that style of running is called having a stick up your ass.
L: I tend to be critical of people's running form
T: Yeah, that's because you are a runner. It's like me being critical of everyone for everything. I'm just that awesome.

Day 2-5: One City Down Six to Go

Alrighty, we have left Amsterdam and are in Berlin. Oh and we left London a few days before that too. Forgot to to tell you that. Nothing huge going on in London, just showed Ted some of the sights, Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace (with the changing of the gaurds), and Leciester Square and the West End.

We got to Amsterdam with no problems and started the ruckus. I'd like for you to think a a number between 1 and 456,342. What ever number you are thinking is not the number of hookers we slept with. It was actually 456,343. Ted wussed out at 324. We tried to update from there, but the computer shut down mid post, so you're getting everything here and now.

The firstday in Amsterdam we just walked around cause our plane got in late. After the sunset we wandered on down to the Red Light District and Ted did a bit of window shopping. There were some really good Holland t-shirt on display all over the place. After deciding to pass on punctuation and the ladies we had a beer and headed back to the Winston. In the evening we went and watched the game (Holland vs. Portugal). Needless to say we were rooting for Holland. Hup Hup Holland.

The next day was a little mor entertaining, but Ted has a put a strict censorship on the this blog, so I can't tell you about all of the little kids he beat. We went to the Anne Frank House for a quick pick me up. Then we dropped in to an internet cafe where I failed at life and messed up the post. Then we went the Van Gogh Museum and wandered around south of the city center. Then....we slept for 13 hours. I know..... lame. Screw you.

Next day (Day 4) we went to the Heineken Experience. It was pretty cool. They showed us stuff and we drank piss, I mean...Heineken. On our way home we ate some (a lot of) Dutch snacks. Cone of fries, cookies/blue berry muffin, then Irish pub for Guinness and Shpards Pie. Nap. Brown Cafe for some drinks. Then bed time.

Ok, then it was bed and up at 4 am to make it to Berlin. We have come to realize that Germany is playing in Berlin against Argentina on Friday. Things should be a bit crazy. We'll need to get some Deutsch Garb so we can blend in. Ok. Done.

Peace.
Les (and Ted over mine shoulder)

Quotes:
Les: You looked like you were hurrying through that.
Ted: Damn straight! I was afraid I was going to loose that shit. It was poorly secured!

Ted: Like throwing a hot dog down a hallway.

Ted: Does Anne Frank's house have a pub in it?
Les: Yes, I believe it is the entire bottom floor.
(slightly less funny after going through the museum....)

Ted: Think about it...if you divide by seven, it equals true.

Day 1 - We're feeling very olympic today

So, we were off.

Got to the airport (via the lovely volvo piloted by the equally lovely Whitney -- guess who's writing this post).

We left SFO at around 10:30 PM, got to Toronto at 6:30 ish AM. Left Toronto around 9:30 AM and got to London at 8:30 PM. We actually got to london a little bit early, but we sat around for the gate long enough that it didn't matter.

I (being Ted) had my first experience with the underground, which was alright except for them telling me what to do. I'll mind the gap if I want to...thank you very much.

So we walked maybe 3/4 of a mile or 2.543038 Hecto-meters in this stupid system :-) to the hostel. It looks like it will be just fine except the internet doesn't work, so we had to go to an internet cafe.

We then went out to a pub and got a beer (if people are keeping track).
Ted - Guiness
Les - John Smith's

Now we are off to go get food.

Ted (F*ck you les...yeah I went there...and no i'm not capitalizing your name or i'm...and stop looking over my shoulder...jerk)

Quote(s) of the day:
T: I wonder if europe is ready to get F'd in the A?
L: Do you think Amsterdam will F us in the A?
T: Only if we pay them enough...
